I published a list of best schools in Atlanta a few weeks ago. After publishing that list, I came across an article by CNN. The Article covers the cost of buying a house in a good school district. I was always aware that many people could not afford the best school zones. I was Not sure how to speak about that but after reading the article it was clear that I had to address it.
One of my core values is that you should not buy more house than you can afford. I think the CNN article should have distinguished best schools from good schools.
In Metro Atlanta, you might not be able to afford the best schools but A good school is more accessible to the average family. In Many cities in the northeast like New York and Boston, that is not the case.
I must admit that the case presented in the article seems to be a gross exaggeration. In metro Atlanta, we do not have to face these high price levels. But the idea is totally relevant.
Is it really good school or good parenting?
There are good students even in the worst schools. We can not focus so much on the quality of the school without looking at the quality of the parenting. We have poor performing students in the best schools. We have good performing students in the worst schools all other the country. What I want to say here is that school rating is not the only Factor.

In Conclusion
This is our list of Good schools in Metro Atlanta. We all want the best for our children. Sending them to the best school is a good way to offer them a better chance to succeed. At the same time, we need to keep in mind the financial stability of the family as a whole. Buying a house that you can not afford in order to send your children to a great school is not the right approach.
I am against owning more home than you can afford. It’s irresponsible to do so. Homeownership offers many values to a family but owning a home that is too much for your budget can add so much stress to the family that it destroys all these values.
This list for sure will require updating over the years. In this list, we might miss something. If you see something that we miss please contact us and let us now. For more information on school, ratings go to Greatschools.com
